Celebrating Over 35 Years of Restoration, Conservation, and Inspiration

DonateNow

In 1972, the Laguna de Santa Rosa was declared devoid of life—a moment that changed everything. What was once written off as lost inspired a community to act and begin what has now been over three decades of collaborative restoration, education, and commitment to bring the Laguna and the ecosystems it supports back to life.

Because of that commitment, the Laguna is recovering. Now we find ourselves at another significant moment—one you can help shape.

We are honored to share that the Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation has received a $1.05 million grant from the California Wildlife Conservation Board, the largest in our history. This transformational investment supports planning for a 175-acre flagship project along the Laguna, advancing efforts to restore lost freshwater wetlands and streams, support fish and wildlife, and strengthen flood protection in the face of increasingly intense storms.

Public grant funding opens doors. Your support helps us walk through them.

We must raise $250,000 in flexible funding to fully leverage this historic investment by the end of June. These dollars allow us to act quickly, secure additional grants, and advance our restoration, conservation science, and community engagement programs—ensuring that every gift you make directly strengthens the health of the Laguna and supports the wildlife that depends on it.

Your gift does more than support a project. It helps restore a living ecosystem to balance and ensures that the Laguna continues to recover, while providing habitat for wildlife and resilience for our communities for generations to come.

Wetlands are among the most imperiled ecosystems in California, with more than 90% of historic wetlands already lost. Yet they are essential to our communities—absorbing stormwater to reduce flooding, filtering and cleaning our water, and helping us adapt to a changing climate. Wetlands are also the foundation of our watershed’s biodiversity, supporting a wide range of native species, including endangered coho salmon, along with migratory birds, river otters, and countless other plants and animals that depend on these interconnected habitats to survive and thrive.

Please consider making a gift today to help us reach our $250,000 goal. Every dollar brings us closer to turning this extraordinary opportunity into a lasting change.

The progress we’ve made together has brought us to this moment. With your support, we can build on this momentum to expand and scale up our impact across the Laguna de Santa Rosa watershed.

With deep gratitude,
